Moving a Blog Shouldn’t Mean Rebuilding It: Meet Website Blog Migrator

Moving a website to WordPress can be exciting. Moving hundreds of blog posts by hand is not. When a site has been running for years, copying every article, recreating its formatting, and saving each image can turn a redesign into a long and error-prone project.

Website Blog Migrator is a free WordPress plugin from Pseudocode Solutions that helps make that move easier. Give it a public blog page, review the pages it finds, and import the articles you choose into WordPress. It does not depend on the old site providing an RSS feed.

What problem does it solve?

Many migration tools depend on an export file or a platform-specific feed. That can be a dead end when the old platform does not provide a useful export, the feed is incomplete, or the site owner wants to move only selected articles.

Website Blog Migrator starts with the blog page and uses the site’s sitemap and links to discover candidate articles. It then extracts article content and copies body images into the destination WordPress Media Library. The imported posts refer to those local copies, so the new site does not need to keep loading images from the old site.

The plugin was built and tested against a Wix blog with hundreds of posts. In one pilot scan, it found 319 candidate URLs. The review screen lets the site owner select which pages to bring over before the import begins.

How it works

1. Install and activate Website Blog Migrator.
2. Open **Tools → Website Blog Migrator** and enter the source blog page.
3. Scan the site, review the discovered pages, and select the articles to import.
4. Choose whether to create drafts or publish immediately.
5. Choose the original publication date or today’s date, and assign a WordPress category.
6. Start the import and follow its progress.

Imports run one post at a time and can be continued from the progress screen. Images are copied into the destination Media Library. If an image cannot be copied, the affected post is skipped instead of being left with a broken dependency on the source site.

Who is it for?

Website Blog Migrator is for site owners and developers who are moving a blog into WordPress and need a practical way to bring over a large collection of articles. It can help with migrations from Wix and other platforms that expose readable public article pages. How much content it can extract depends on the source site’s markup, so always review the discovered pages and imported posts.

What it does not migrate

The plugin focuses on article text and images. It does not recreate the old theme or page builder layout, import comments, reproduce redirects, or map source authors and categories automatically. You can choose a destination category during import. Some source pages may be listed as candidates even when they are not blog posts, so review the list before selecting pages.

Each article is limited to 100 images, with a 20 MB limit per image. Images that are low resolution on the source site cannot be made sharper by the migration. Keep a backup of the original site and review imported drafts before publishing them.

Only import content and images that you own or have permission to migrate. The plugin is a migration aid; it does not grant rights to material on another website.

Free for everyone

Website Blog Migrator is being made available free of charge. There is no paid tier required to use its import features. We’re preparing the public release and documentation through Pseudocode Solutions.

If you are planning a move to WordPress, try it on a small selection first, check the results, and then continue with the rest of your posts.
